There are many ways that you can get informed and involved. We have committees that will help you get started!


What is ELAC? 
Each California Public School from Kindergarten through grade 12, with 21 or more English learners must form a functional English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC). The ELAC is a committee for parents or other community members who want to advocate for English Learners.
How does ELAC help my student and me? 
  • The ELAC shall be responsible for advising the principal and staff on programs and services for English learners.
  • The ELAC shall assist the school in the development of:
  • The school's needs assessment.
  • The school's annual language census.
  • Ways to make parents aware of the importance of regular school attendance.


What is FAAS?
FAAS advocates for parents and families of African American students in all grades and in every school in the district. All persons willing to promote the positive social, emotional, and academic development of African American students are welcome to participate.
What does FAAS do? 
FAAS serves five primary functions:
1. Maintains a formal network of African American students’ families and acts as a centralized source for educational information and opportunities.
2. Represents and protects the interests of African American students’ families with regard to equitable access to information, resources, and opportunities. 
3. Provides ongoing parent workshops that teach student support strategies and how to navigate the paths from school to career.
4. Monitors, analyzes, interprets, and responds to trends and data regarding African American student progress.
5. Advises the school site and district administration on matters pertinent to the positive social, emotional, and academic development of African American students and their families.


School Parent Staff Association is a non-profit association of parents who stay involved in our children's education and support our teachers and students. 
Our goals are to contribute to and to build for the betterment of our schools and the community. We can accomplish these goals by working with our principal, school, parents, teachers, and the community in becoming actively involved with affairs concerning the welfare of our children by participating and promoting projects for necessary equipment and materials with which our children will receive the benefit of a broader perspective of a well-rounded education; and to pursue these goals with an awareness that our responsibilities and concerns as parents and teachers may be of value to our children in their future years.
The membership of the organization is open to all parents, family members, and teachers.


What is a School Site Council?
The school site council is a group of teachers, parents, classified employees, and students (at the high school level) that works with the principal to develop, review and evaluate school improvement programs and school budgets. The members of the site council are generally elected by their peers.
How does this affect my student and me?
The exact duties of school site councils vary from state to state and even between districts in the same state, but site councils generally either make decisions or advise the principal on the school budget and the academic or school improvement plan. In addition to academic planning, many site councils are also responsible for making decisions about parent engagement, safety and discipline.
Over the course of a year, a typical council might consider the goals of the school or district and then work with the principal to evaluate the school’s progress toward those goals. In this evaluation, the council might consider school test scores, attendance and discipline records, parent surveys and input from students.
How can I participate or voice my concerns?
School Site Council is typically held once a month.
