Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC)
The Goal of Army JROTC is
"To motivate young people to become better citizens."
"To motivate young people to become better citizens."
To accomplish our goal, JROTC combines classroom instruction and co-curricular activities to promote an awareness of the rights, responsibilities, and privileges of citizenship in our community. The JROTC curriculum develops a student's sense of personal responsibility, life building skills, teamwork contribution, and leadership opportunities. JROTC's co-curricular activities continue to enrich students' lives as they build lifelong connections and further develop their abilities. The mission of JROTC complements our high school's mission "to graduate lifelong learners who make positive contributions to society while pursuing a career path of their choice."

JROTC Does Not Recruit For The Military
We believe that the choice to join the military is entirely up to the student and their parents or guardians.
We believe that the choice to join the military is entirely up to the student and their parents or guardians.
Our focus is to prepare students for graduation and for plans that further their life goals beyond high school. We develop young people and orient them positively in preparation for whatever role in life they may choose. It is in this sense that the JROTC program is part of the US Army’s service to the nation and therefore taught by retired Army personnel who have chosen to serve their community. The JROTC program doesn’t recruit students for military service.
Both our instructors have a combined 50 years of military experience and are teachers in the Pittsburg Unified School District. They are also excellent coaches and counselors who can provide additional information to any student, their parents or guardians, about what serving in the United States military can be like.
