The Pittsburg High School community is composed of parents, students, teachers, other staff and community members. Our partnership is necessary for the well-being of our students both academically and emotionally. We are committed to provide a quality education that will prepare every student for academic and social success at the high school level:
Staff Pledge:
- I agree to carry out the following responsibilities to the best of my ability:
- I will have high expectations and help every child develop a love of learning.
- I will provide a safe, caring and organized classroom learning environment.
- I will motivate students through interesting and challenging lessons that promote student achievement.
- I will communicate regularly with families about student progress.
- I will provide meaningful homework assignments to reinforce and extend learning.
- I will participate in professional development opportunities that improve teaching and learning and support formation of partnerships with families and the community.
- I will actively participate in collaborative decision making and consistently work with my school colleagues to make our school accessible and welcoming for our families which in turn, helps each student reach the school’s high academic standards.
- I will monitor on a consistent basis (quarterly) the progress my students are making toward these pledges.
Student Pledge:
- I agree to carry out the following responsibilities to the best of my ability:
- I will learn and follow school and class rules.
- I will refrain from using profanity at all times.
- I will respect all persons at school.
- I will bring necessary materials, completed assignments and homework.
- I will come to school ready to learn and work hard.
- I will communicate regularly with my parents and teachers about my school experiences so that I can be successful in school.
- I will limit my TV watching, electronic and computer game playing, and other non-academic outside activities so I will have time to study, complete my homework, and read every day after school.
- I will attend school regularly and be on time to all my classes.
- I promise to keep my cell phone and any other electronic device turned off and stored during all class periods.
Family / Parent Pledge:
- I agree to carry out the following responsibilities to the best of my ability:
- I will ensure that my child attends school every day, gets adequate sleep, regular medical attention and nutrition.
- I will regularly monitor my child’s progress in school.
- I understand that the time my child spends studying is the time that my child is learning.
- I promise to ask my child "Let me see your homework, planner, and returned tests" as often as is needed to encourage his/her learning progress.
- I promise to check Aeries Parent Portal or the homework hotline at least weekly to check on my child's assignments and progress.
- I will provide a quiet time and place for homework and limit TV viewing.
- I will read to my child or encourage my child to read for 30 minutes every day.
- I will participate in school activities such as, but not limited to, school decision making, volunteering and attending parent conferences.
- I will communicate the importance of education and learning to my child.
- I will respect the school, staff, students, and families.
- I will support the school/district’s discipline and dress code policy.
- I will support the school’s campus policies regarding visitation and safety.
